How I Keep Myself Occupied during Quarantine
Quarantine isn't new to me since I experienced it last year for almost 4 months. It upsets me to be in the same situation again but looking on the brighter side, I am still blessed that during this pandemic crisis, I am now in my comfort, my home with my family unlike the first time that I am all alone in the hospital abroad.
I swear to myself that I will make 2020 the best year ever since 2019 was a painful one. I was supposedly going back abroad. I resigned before 2019 ended and secured a new and better job before I went vacation in the Philippines. Everything is promising for me this year! But look who's making fun of us? Year Twenty Twenty be like "It's a prank!"
I have read an article that said: the next pandemic crisis will be mental health. The whole quarantine series will definitely trigger our anxiety. It's no joke to be lock-down and it's no joke to go outside and risk our physical health too, which leave us no choice.
I have seen myself before, dealing with the fluctuation of my mental health. Self pity over being isolated from the world, homesickness, struggle of taking medicines and side effects, difficulties of being alone and lack of routine. It was really hard to be stuck.

But maybe this time, I am more wiser and stronger to cope up with the condition.
I still want this year to be productive though actions would be really limited. There's nothing wrong to stare blankly in a space, to contemplate life or to embrace the current, Sounds cliche but its okay not to be okay. There's nothing wrong too if you choose to dance during the rain. We all have our own ways to survive this crisis so go ahead.
I am a jobless ex-ofw currently stuck at home. With a parent who lose a job abroad in the middle of pandemic and pile of bills and loans to pay. What should I do? I admit, I have several breakdowns during the first month of lock down but I picked myself up, No not again!
The free time at home is giving us an opportunity to do the things we always wanted to do but have no chance to. So I take this time to rebuild myself. To do the things I love. To push my goals despite the crisis, well it's more challenging.
For the past months of enhance community quarantine, I focused myself earning money (hahaha! It's the real deal) by doing the things I am passionate about. Here are the few of what keeps me busy:

- UKAY UKAY ONLINE
A month ago I opened an online shop called APS (Ayahn's Preloved Shop) Just with the Shop Name,I put a lot of brain for that lol. Kidding aside, It happened that it is also my Initials. *wink* Never thought that people would love it. I actually doubt this business at first because why would I sell preloved clothes during pandemic? seriously are you okay self? But I already risk small money for the capital (small or big, still we're talking about money and I can't afford to lose money during crisis) so I just believe in my guts that I can make this one a boom! With the support of friends and fellow thrifty fashionista, My ukayan is still alive and leveling up! Will talk more about it on another post!
For now, why not like my page on facebook:
- ESL Teacher
Days before the announcement of Community Quarantine, I was able to process my application as part time ESL teacher. Disclaimer: I am not good in English but you can count on me with Nursery rhymes and getting kids attention. In 3 days process, Skype Interview- Skype training and actual class demo for final step, I am able to join the company.
There's no pressure with this part time job since I enjoy interaction with kids. There are times that some adults booked my classes too. It's another teaching approach, more of free talk but I enjoy it the way I enjoy classes with the kids.
The salary is not big enough to pay the bills but working without any pressure is a blessing. (except the hassle of internet connection and devices)
If you are interested to do this part time as well, you can click the referral link below:
- Part Time Social Media Handler
During this season, when opportunity knocks - grab it! Someone in Dubai sent me a message thru Instagram asking for help with a giveaway he wanted to run over the platform. I am willing to help since I'm not doing anything; but later on, He offered a part time job to handle his shop's instagram account. Sounds of kaching and I'm fine with it. I just have to post pictures of products and make captions for it. This is a better way of spending time in social media, at least I am somehow earning instead of scrolling feeds which will just trigger your anxiety due to everyday news in the world.
We have a lot of time these days not to have a chance to touch the music instrument we wanted to learn how to play, to be the queen of the kitchen while our computers in the office are on their rest days, To check if we have a green thumb to take care of plants or better grow your love with greens! isn't cactus and succulents such a cutie? To paint the boring wall in the front yard, To fill up that blank notebook in your room with writings and doodles. To read some books and finding your purpose through reading the Purpose Driven Life. To check out your childhood, high school and college friends. To exercise or to eat a lot - you decide as long as your keeping your immune system in good condition. To watch all Kdramas on your list or finish all the season of f.r.i.e.n.d.s.
There are free online courses too. Maybe we can enroll and earn some certificates while quarantine?
I am hoping that you all keep safe and healthy, physically and mentally. Keep the faith and pray always. We all can get through this!
